Eastern Iowa Brass Band

The Eastern Iowa Brass Band  (EIBB) is the only year-round brass band in Iowa. It's roots date back to 1985-1986 when Don Stine of the City Band in Mt. Vernon, Iowa learned about the growing brass band movement in the United States. Over thirty years later, the EIBB continues to perform at festivals, schools, universities, and contests such as the NABBA Championship  where they have been awarded the division championship six times. The EIBB website has a wealth of information and history about brass bands. It is a great place to start when learning about the brass band tradition and its eventual adoption in the United States. The Smithsonian Institution featured the EIBB in 1991 as part of their Festival of American Folklife. The EIBB has also performed at the Iowa Bandmasters Association four times as well as for the American School Band Directors Association. The EIBB has competed in The US Open Championships as well.
